BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi described Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s address at the 81st UN General Assembly as a reflection of the aspirations of pro-democratic and peace-loving people worldwide.
Speaking on Friday afternoon before a protest procession organized by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Juba Dal, and Swechchhasebak Dal in front of BNP's Nayapaltan central office, Rizvi highlighted the Prime Minister's emphasis on diplomacy, education, and peace over lethal weapons, along with Bangladesh's firm support for Palestinian rights and the repatriation of Rohingya refugees. Rizvi also warned opposition political parties against giving space to the defeated forces of the 2024 mass uprising, cautioning that conspiracies are underway to destabilize the country and rehabilitate the ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The rally, presided over by Swechchhasebak Dal President and MP SM Jilani, also featured speeches by Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and Vice-President Ziaur Rahman Zia, concluding with a large protest march through Nayapaltan.
