FIFA has reviewed and adjusted the disciplinary sanctions handed down following the post-match brawl and misconduct following the World Cup final defeat against Spain. The FIFA Appeal Committee has reduced defender Nahuel Molina's ban from seven to four matches, while also lowering his fine from $90,000 to $60,000. Molina was originally penalized for striking Spain midfielder Rodri during post-match celebrations.
However, midfielder Leandro Paredes did not receive a reduction. His 10-match suspension and $90,000 fine for shoving Eric Garcia and clashing with Gavi during Spain's celebrations remain fully intact. In response, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced plans to take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) once official reasoning is provided, alongside challenging a $321,000 fine imposed on AFA for alleged discriminatory chants.
