Long queues and heavy crowds have emerged at various petrol pumps across Thakurgaon following reports of an impending increase in fuel oil prices. Motorcyclists and drivers rushed to filling stations on Monday morning to stock up on fuel at previous rates before the revised prices take effect.

The new fuel prices will come into effect starting Monday midnight, with diesel increased by Tk 20 to Tk 135 per liter, octane raised by Tk 20 to Tk 165, and petrol hiked by Tk 20 to Tk 160. Meanwhile, kerosene has been priced at Tk 155 per liter.

Visiting different pumps in Thakurgaon town, motorists were seen waiting in long lines to purchase fuel at the existing rates. Drivers expressed concern that higher fuel prices would drastically increase their daily operational expenses, severely impacting those who rely on vehicles for their livelihoods. They also voiced fears that increased transport costs would trigger a surge in daily commodity prices.
