Bangladesh Bank Governor Mostakur Rahman has announced that no bureaucrats or bankers will be involved in selecting new entrepreneurs for the implementation of the 60,000 crore taka stimulus package declared by Bangladesh Bank.

He made it clear that a successful entrepreneur will select new entrepreneurs, and no lobbying or favoritism will be tolerated in this process. "In the past, there was a lot of lobbying and fault-finding regarding these matters, and deserving candidates were deprived. This time, we will not allow a repetition of those incidents," he stated.

He was speaking as the chief guest on Saturday at a meeting titled "Exchange of Views with Stakeholders on the Implementation of the Stimulus Package Declared by Bangladesh Bank for Private Sector Development," held at the Bangladesh Bank Rangpur Office auditorium.

Governor Mostakur Rahman said, "In the past, influential individuals showed unfair interest in such stimulus packages. This time, we have taken initiatives to make the entrepreneur selection process completely free of influence and transparent. Any kind of recommendation for financing will be considered a disqualification for the respective entrepreneur. This policy will be strictly followed across every upazila in the country. We want qualified current entrepreneurs to become major new industrial entrepreneurs of the country and wish to inspire them."

Highlighting youth self-employment initiatives, he added, "Following the July mass uprising, the government has been thinking about integrating the youth into the mainstream economy. Under this stimulus package, initially 5,000 new young entrepreneurs will be provided loans. Applicants must be under 28 years of age and possess a specific and realistic business plan."
