Workers of Clothing Carnivers Limited (CCL) in Ashulia, Savar, have entered the fourth consecutive day of a continuous sit-in program in front of their factory gates, demanding the immediate clearance of three months' overdue salaries and allowances, the reopening of the shut facility, and an end to police harassment and legal threats.

The aggrieved workers stated that having gone without pay for months, they are leading an inhumane existence alongside their families, struggling to meet basic daily needs. On Wednesday afternoon (September 16) around 3:00 PM, a large contingent of protesting workers marched out from the factory gate near the Baipail area, heading toward the Ashulia Police Station where they staged a vociferous human chain and workers' rally. Leaders from various national labor federations expressed solidarity with the demonstration.

Addressing the rally, Bangladesh Garment and Shilpa Shramik Federation Central President Rafiqul Islam Sujon demanded that CCL clear all arrears, reopen the factory, halt arbitrary worker layoffs, and immediately withdraw all harassing lawsuits filed against laborers. He noted that workers have been staging sit-ins day and night on empty stomachs, plunging their dependents into deep financial uncertainty.

Labor leaders revealed that memoranda detailing the crisis have already been submitted to the Minister of Labor, the Labor Secretary, the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE), Industrial Police-1, and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, alongside formal complaints lodged at Ashulia Police Station. However, due to a lack of tangible remedies, workers remain deeply frustrated.
