A 15-year-old intellectually disabled teenager has reportedly been violated by a married man with two children in Kathali Madhyapara village under Mithapukur Upazila, Rangpur. Following the incident, the victim's father has lodged a formal criminal case at the Mithapukur Police Station.
According to the case statement, the incident occurred on August 27, 2026, at approximately 11:00 AM while the victim, Priti Rani (15), was alone at the home of Sukumar Chandra Barman in Kathali Madhyapara village. Seizing the opportunity, Ripon Chandra Barman (30), son of Rakhal Chandra Barman from the same village, entered the residence and forcefully violated the teenager against her will.
The FIR details that Ripon pinned the girl onto a bed inside the room, muzzled her mouth, and subjected her to violent threats before stripping her clothes and committing the assault.
The victim's father returned home unexpectedly from outside during the incident and caught the accused red-handed with his daughter. Although he attempted to apprehend Ripon, the suspect shoved him aside and fled the scene. Several local residents also spotted the accused fleeing the area.
Mithapukur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ruhul Amin stated that an active investigation is underway alongside targeted police operations to track down and arrest the fugitive suspect.
