Seven days after her mysterious disappearance, the bagged and dismembered body of 10-year-old Kamrunnahar Koli has been recovered from a ditch in Pabna Sadar Upazila.
On Wednesday morning (September 16), locals spotted the bagged remains inside a ditch near the victim's home and immediately notified the authorities. Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam confirmed the tragic recovery, noting that the body had been cut into pieces and stuffed inside a sack before being dumped. The grim discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community, drawing massive crowds of grieving residents and onlookers to the scene.
The deceased child, Kamrunnahar Koli, was the daughter of Kamal Pramanik from Kolunia village under Dogachhi union in Pabna Sadar Upazila. According to family accounts, Koli had accompanied her father to the local Sreepur Bazar on Wednesday evening (September 9). After returning home, she handed over the shopping bag to her mother and stepped out near the house, never to return. When she went missing, her family searched frantically before discovering her sandals about 200 yards from the house and subsequently filing a General Diary (GD) with the Pabna Sadar Police Station.
Following days of unsuccessful searches and protests—including a human chain staged by relatives and classmates in Pabna town on Tuesday demanding her rescue—the brutal reality of her murder came to light. Grieving relatives and local residents have expressed intense anger, alleging that police failed to act swiftly upon the initial clues provided by the family.
Heartbroken father Kamal Pramanik cried out for justice, demanding the immediate arrest and exemplary capital punishment of those responsible for the heinous crime. Police have dispatched the body to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, while law enforcement officials state that an intensive investigation is underway to unravel the mystery behind the murder and apprehend the perpetrators.
