
As part of the Department of Social Services' rehabilitation initiatives for burn victims, injured individuals, and persons with disabilities, interest-free microloans have been formally distributed in Kaliganj Upazila, Lalmonirhat.
The distribution ceremony was held on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) at the Kaliganj Upazila Parishad auditorium. Lalmonirhat-2 MP Md. Rokon Uddin Babul graced the event as the chief guest, with Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saiful Islam presiding over the ceremony. Officials from the Department of Social Services, beneficiaries, and local dignitaries were also in attendance.
The program aims to empower marginalized and vulnerable groups by providing capital to engage in income-generating activities, thereby improving their socioeconomic standing and self-reliance.
In his address, chief guest MP Rokon Uddin Babul emphasized that standing beside disadvantaged populations and making them self-sufficient is a core priority of the government. He noted that interest-free microcredit schemes enable beneficiaries to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their families and society.
