State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M. A. Muhit has remarked that the country's health system has been ruined due to the wastage of public funds, creation of opportunities for corruption, and continuous neglect of health sector institutions in the past.
He made this remark on Saturday (October 31) afternoon at a discussion meeting held after inspecting the Bangladesh Institute of Health Management (BIHM) building located in the Thana Road area of Savar.
The State Minister said that in the past, public funds were wasted, tools of corruption were created, and institutions were continuously neglected, damaging the country's entire health system. To overcome this situation, instead of addressing the mismanagement of a single institution in an isolated manner, specific and planned programs must be adopted.
He further stated, "Going to one place, observing mismanagement, and taking immediate action there might solve the problem for that specific location, but it does not fix the country's overall healthcare delivery system. Therefore, planned and coordinated initiatives are necessary for the holistic development of the health sector."
