To prevent the spread of dengue and raise public awareness, the Sherpur Municipality has launched a special cleanliness and mosquito eradication drive across various areas of Sherpur town.
Carried out on Wednesday (September 16), the campaign was implemented as part of the nationwide national dengue prevention and cleanliness drive directed by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Under this special initiative, municipal workers cleared accumulated waste and garbage from various roads, drains, and surrounding neighborhoods across the municipality. Necessary measures were also taken to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes, the primary vector for dengue.
During the drive, municipal authorities urged local residents to keep their homes, courtyards, and immediate surroundings clean, emphasizing vigilance against stagnant water where mosquitoes can multiply.
Delivering a public awareness message, municipal officials stressed that curbing dengue requires collective community participation alongside municipal efforts. They called upon every citizen to play a responsible role from their respective positions to keep Sherpur town safe, clean, and free from dengue.
