An 11-year-old boy named Md. Abdullah, who ran away from his Hazaribagh home in Dhaka following a disagreement over studies with his father, was rescued by police after seven days near Tongi Railway Station on Monday morning.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DMP Media and Public Relations Division Md. Niaz Mehedi confirmed on Tuesday (September 22) that the child was reported missing on September 13. Following a general diary (GD) filed by his family, Sub-Inspector Md. Abdul Hai of Hazaribagh Police Station traced the boy's trajectory using neighborhood CCTV footage. Surveillance showed Abdullah traveling via leguna to Gulistan, before boarding a bus to Dhaka Airport Railway Station where he mingled with street children, took baths in nearby ponds, and survived on food given by local shopkeepers before boarding trains to Kamlapur and Tongi. Police found him asleep near Tongi Railway Station on September 21 and brought him back safely. Finding no third-party involvement, police reunited Abdullah with his father, Md. Amjad Sheikh.
