The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a storm forecast for 13 inland regions, advising river ports to hoist cautionary signal number 1 as a depression moves across the Bay of Bengal.
According to a weather bulletin valid through Tuesday night (September 22), rain or squally thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds ranging between 45 and 60 km/h are expected to sweep over Rajshahi, Pabna, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet. Meanwhile, the maritime depression located over the Bay of Bengal continues to move west-northwestwards, generating maximum sustained wind speeds of 40 km/h near its center, with gusts up to 50 km/h. Maritime ports in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep local cautionary signal number 3 hoisted, while fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been instructed to remain close to the coast until further notice.
