State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam has instructed relevant authorities to fast-track the implementation of public interest projects on a priority basis.
He issued the directive on Tuesday (September 22) during an approval and review meeting on proposed, approved, and Annual Development Programme (ADP)-listed projects for the 2026-27 fiscal year at the Local Government Division conference room.
Emphasizing the need to complete development work within deadlines, Mir Shahe Alam urged officials to prioritize public interest, assign capable Project Directors (PDs), and ensure clear delegation of duties. Addressing urban infrastructure issues, he directed North and South Dhaka City Corporations to regularly clean and maintain canals to eliminate waterlogging and ensure treated sewage discharge into rivers. State Minister for Planning Md. Jonaed Abdur Rahim Saki, present at the meeting, stressed aligning projects with government electoral promises and adopting cluster-based planning to eliminate overlapping and prevent resource waste. The meeting was chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan, alongside senior officials from LGED, DPHE, Dhaka WASA, and the Planning Commission.
