State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid Habib has ordered enhanced security and heightened surveillance across all railway stations and key installations nationwide to prevent sabotage, asserting that those responsible will face strict legal action.
The minister issued the directive during an inspection of Kamalapur Railway Station late Sunday night (September 20), following an arson attack around 9:30 PM on a passenger train coach stationed at Platform No. 2. Law enforcement agencies have already arrested one suspect in connection with the incident, who will be placed on remand for further interrogation.
"Those committing sabotage are operatives of the fallen fascist government who were ousted by the people in July-August," State Minister Habibur Rashid Habib stated while addressing journalists. "Lacking public support, these fleeing forces are attempting to create public panic through targeted violence rather than legitimate political movement."
Regarding the attack, the minister noted that miscreants are suspected of using gunpowder to ignite the fire near the wash plant area before the train reached the main platform. Rapid intervention by safety personnel contained the blaze, limiting the primary damage to a fully burnt coach. He added that while train operations experienced a brief one-hour delay, major schedule disruptions across the network were successfully avoided.
