Bangladesh and Azerbaijan have officially signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official (service) passports to facilitate seamless travel and strengthen bilateral relations.
The accord was signed on Tuesday (September 22, 2026) on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Khalilur Rahman, who is serving as the President of the 81st UNGA session, signed the agreement alongside Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visa waiver deal aims to enhance official contacts, streamline administrative travel between the two nations, and expand bilateral cooperation across trade, economic, educational, and humanitarian sectors.
