The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has stated that recent incidents of crude bomb (cocktail) explosions and arson attacks on public buses across various parts of the capital are deliberate acts of sabotage executed by a specific group to instil panic among the public.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Md. Akhtar Hossain confirmed that law enforcement agencies are closely monitoring and investigating each incident. He revealed that several suspects, including members of various banned organizations and their affiliated wings, have already been arrested in connection with these acts of violence.

DC Akhtar Hossain highlighted that intelligence-driven operational activities and police deployments have been significantly augmented across Dhaka. To ensure public safety and mitigate panic, the DMP has intensified mobile patrols, picket duties, and strict surveillance. Furthermore, Detective Branch (DB) personnel are monitoring petrol pumps and chemical suppliers to track the purchase of flammable liquids used in arson, while analyzing citywide CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
