National Unity Essential to Thwart Sabotage, Overcome Political Division: PM Tariq Rahman

Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has issued a compelling call for national unity, urging all political, civic, and social factions to rise above partisan division and collectively counter ongoing sabotage, arson, and external conspiracies threatening the country's economic and democratic stability.

Speaking at the historic November 7 Sovereignty Rally, PM Rahman stated that no conspiratorial force, whether internal or operating from abroad, can derail the collective progression and democratic mandate achieved on August 5, 2024. The Prime Minister's appeal comes at a volatile juncture marked by heightened political friction, serial urban sabotage, and widespread labor unrest across the nation's primary industrial belts.

Security agencies and the Ministry of Home Affairs report that while garment workers in Savar, Ashulia, Mirpur, and Gazipur have legitimate economic concerns, outlawed political networks—allegedly directed by fugitive leaders of the banned Awami League operating from India—are infiltrating labor demonstrations to incite violence and destabilize the state ahead of December. Concurrently, public anxiety has escalated in Dhaka following a wave of late-night cocktail explosions in Adabor, Shahbagh, Airport, Khilgaon, and Kalshi, alongside bus arson attacks on Pragati Sarani and Rayerbazar.

Simultaneously, the political landscape is further complicated as the 11-Party Alliance, led by Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, conducts sequential divisional Long Marches pushing a 7-point agenda that includes referendum implementation, July genocide trials, and energy-fertilizer crisis resolutions. Political analysts warn that sharp polarization between government and opposition blocks creates dangerous operational vacuums for anti-state elements. They stress that preserving national sovereignty, economic health, and democratic stability requires immediate cross-party consensus against violence.
