DMP News Portal Compromised: Site Defaced with Political Messages and Violent Imagery Before Going Offline

The official news website of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), 'DMP News', has reportedly suffered a major cyber attack, displaying objectionable political messages and violent imagery during a late-night security breach.

Visitors attempting to access the portal late Saturday night, October 31, 2026, were met with unauthorized content replacing standard news feeds. The defaced homepage featured a photograph of police personnel alongside scenes of violence, accompanied by the political slogan: "Police—no matter how much you hit, can you forget August 5?" ("পুলিশ-তুমি যতই মারো, ৫ আগস্ট কি ভুলতে পার?"). Background music was also embedded onto the site during the intrusion.

Following the security breach, access to the website was completely suspended, rendering the domain inaccessible to the public as technical teams worked to contain the incident. While cyber defacement is evident, DMP officials have yet to issue a formal press statement regarding the identity of the perpetrators or the full extent of the server compromise. 'DMP News' serves as the principal public information platform for the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, regularly publishing operational reports, crime updates, public advisories, and official police announcements.
