The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a stern warning that it will crack down with an iron fist against instigators attempting to execute political sabotage under the guise of the readymade garment (RMG) minimum wage protests in Mirpur.

Speaking to media personnel in Mirpur on Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2026, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Protection and Order Management (POM) South Division Md. Touhidul Arif stated that genuine garment workers are no longer on the streets. Instead, groups of miscreants with targeted ulterior motives are attempting to instigate chaos. He detailed that around 9:00 AM, miscreants erected barricades at Mirpur-11, which were forcefully dismantled by law enforcement.

DC Touhidul Arif noted that actual factory workers have either returned home following factory holidays or remain at work inside their facilities. The police are launching a thorough investigation to identify the masterminds and motives behind the violence. The DMP Media Cell will release official statistics regarding police injuries from brickbatting and the total number of detainees in due course. Main thoroughfares including the Mirpur-10 roundabout have returned to normal, while special police surveillance and search operations continue in surrounding alleyways.
