An eighth-grade student named Samiha Afrin (14) has gone missing from the Kuril Chowrasta area in Dhaka. Samiha is a student at Joar Sahara Jasimuddin Institute.
The student's brother, Sujon Sikder Liton, confirmed the incident on Wednesday (September 23, 2026). According to the family, Samiha left her residence around 7:00 PM on Monday (September 21) following a minor disagreement over her studies two days prior. After searches in surrounding areas yielded no results, her family filed a general diary (GD No. 2654) at Bhatara Police Station on Tuesday (September 22). CCTV footage captured her leaving the building without carrying any money, gold ornaments, or personal mobile phone.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Kader of Bhatara Police Station stated that police have dispatched nationwide alerts across all police stations. He noted that tracking her whereabouts digitally has proven complex as she did not carry a personal mobile phone. However, police have requested Call Detail Records (CDR) of family devices to investigate whether she communicated with anyone prior to her disappearance.
