Police recovered the floating body of a 51-year-old man from Dhanmondi Lake in the capital early Tuesday morning (September 22). The deceased was identified as Md. Javed Ahmed, a resident of a residential area under Bhatara Police Station in Dhaka.
According to Dhanmondi Police Station, locals spotted the body floating near the Abesh & Restaurant branch on Road No. 10 around 6:40 AM and notified authorities. Police recovered an National Identity (NID) card from the body, leading to the notification of his family. His wife, Shahana Zabin Khan, subsequently identified the body.
Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Imdadul Islam stated that a police team led by Sub-Inspector Gafur recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. While the victim's wife reported that he had been unemployed for a long period and suffered from financial hardship, police confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause and circumstances of death.
