Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in New York on Monday evening (local time) aboard a Turkish Airlines flight following a short layover in Istanbul, to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and a high-level delegation—including Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Aviation Minister Rashiduzzaman Millat, Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir, Shama Obayed, and State Minister for Sports Aminul Haque—the Prime Minister was received at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to the UN, Irene Zubaida Khan, and Bangladesh Ambassador to the US, Tareq Md. Ariful Islam.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to deliver his maiden address at the UNGA General Debate on September 24. His week-long diplomatic engagement includes bilateral meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and various international agency heads, alongside attending high-level events on the Rohingya crisis, climate action, and economic cooperation.
