The Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Bangladesh, Yvan Strompen, met with the Ambassador of France to Bangladesh, Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, in Dhaka on Monday (September 21) to discuss ongoing efforts to support the Rohingya refugee population.
According to a press statement from the Embassy of France in Dhaka, the UNHCR representative expressed deep gratitude to France for its recent contributions toward assisting Rohingya refugees sheltered in Bangladesh. The UNHCR official emphasized that France's sustained financial and diplomatic support remains vital for UNHCR and its partner organizations to maintain life-saving humanitarian assistance and protection operations for the displaced community.
In response, Ambassador Séré-Charlet reaffirmed France's commitment to assisting UNHCR in securing durable solutions and refugee protection until conditions in Myanmar become suitable for a safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation.
