Four more patients have died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 am today, pushing the country’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles deaths to 1,057 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has officially classified all four latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths. With these recent additions, the total number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 956, while confirmed measles deaths remain unchanged at 101.
During the same 24-hour reporting period, 1,148 new suspected measles cases were recorded, bringing the cumulative total of suspected cases nationwide to 179,814. Additionally, 88 new confirmed cases were logged, raising the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 20,562.
According to DGHS data, a total of 158,589 patients presenting with measles-like symptoms have been hospitalized across the country since March 15 of this year, out of which 152,225 patients have successfully recovered.
