Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) forces have successfully cleared protesting garment workers from key intersections in Mirpur, fully restoring normal vehicular traffic across Mirpur-10, 11, and 12 on Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2026.
Speaking to reporters following the clearance operation, DMP Joint Commissioner Mohidul Islam confirmed that law enforcement utilized sound grenades and tactical whistles to disperse demonstrators after repeated attempts to persuade them to leave failed. He emphasized that police executed the operation without resorting to baton charges (lathi-charge), noting that no arrests were made and no police personnel were injured during the afternoon dispersal. Addressing the underlying unrest, the DMP senior official suspected that anti-state or anti-government elements may have infiltrated the worker demonstrations to sabotage law and order, escalating the protest into violent confrontations and vehicle arson at Mirpur-11.

While regular traffic has resumed across all major arterial roads in Mirpur, heavy police contingents remain deployed across strategic points to maintain public safety and prevent further escalation.
