Minister for Labour and Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury has alleged that a vested political faction is orchestrating unrest and instability across the country under the guise of garment worker protests.
Speaking at a press briefing following a high-level meeting with leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) at Shram Bhaban in Bijoynagar on Saturday, October 31, 2026, the Minister addressed recent road blockades and protests in Mirpur. "If you examine the video footage, journalists can easily distinguish between actual workers and outside agitators," Minister Chowdhury stated. "Activists from a specific political party are involved in the Mirpur protests to destabilize the government."
