Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his spouse, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, attended a welcome breakfast hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York on Tuesday (September 22, 2026), officially kicking off Bangladesh’s high-level engagements at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The event took place at 8:00 AM (local time) at the North Delegates Lounge at UN Headquarters, organized in honor of visiting heads of state, government, and their spouses. World leaders participated in a photo session with UN Chief António Guterres and his spouse. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Dr. Zubaida Rahman exchanged greetings with the UN Secretary-General during the reception.
Following the breakfast, the Prime Minister joined the opening segment of the 81st UNGA session in the General Assembly Hall at 9:00 AM. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to deliver his maiden UNGA address in Bangla on September 24, outlining Bangladesh's vision on democratic transformation, climate justice, and regional stability. During his five-day visit, he will also conduct a series of bilateral meetings with global leaders and heads of international organizations.
