The mortal remains of the remaining seven Bangladeshi migrant workers who tragically perished in a devastating sofa factory fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, have been repatriated home to Dhaka.

Special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-336 carrying the bodies landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 8:21 AM on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The fatal blaze occurred on August 9, 2026, at a sofa manufacturing plant in the Manfuha district of Riyadh, killing a total of 16 Bangladeshi workers. While nine bodies were identified via fingerprint matching and repatriated on August 27, the remaining seven bodies suffered severe burn trauma, requiring a prolonged DNA profiling process to conclusively establish their identities.

Repatriation logistics encountered additional complexity due to the temporary suspension of all commercial flights out of Riyadh since October 10. Under special diplomatic arrangements by the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the bodies were transported overland by road from Riyadh to Jeddah before being loaded onto the Biman flight at King Abdulaziz International Airport. The seven deceased workers include five residents of Naogaon district—Shahin (Naogaon Sadar), Hasibul Hasan, Minhaj Pramanik, Masidul Sardar, and Sagar Ali (Atrai Upazila)—and two residents of Natore district—Mohammad Shamim and Sharif Hossain (Lalpur Upazila). Relatives received the bodies at HSIA to transport them to their respective ancestral villages for final burial, with local upazila administration confirming full assistance.
