minimum monthly wage of ৳30,000

The protest began around 9:00 AM at the Mirpur-10 intersection before rapidly spreading across Mirpur-11, 12, and the Proshika intersection. Protesting workers set up road blockades that completely halted all vehicular traffic in the zone and forced the temporary closure of the Mirpur-10 Metro Rail Station gates for public safety. When police forces attempted to disperse the crowd and restore traffic flow, workers retaliated with brickbats, leading to repeated rounds of chase and counter-chase. Security forces deployed tear gas shells, sound grenades, and water cannons to break up the blockades.

According to Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jalal Uddin, heavy police reinforcements were deployed across all key nodes in Mirpur to clear the roads and contain the escalating tension. The unrest comes despite the Ministry of Labour and Employment officially constituting a six-member Minimum Wage Board chaired by Senior District Judge Sheikh Ashfakur Rahman earlier in the morning. The current clashes follow Saturday's violent demonstrations where workers damaged factory property and retail establishments in Shah Ali and Kalshi areas.
