1 Killed, 7 Injured in Clash Between Two Factions in Lohagara, Extra Police Deployed

A youth named Miskan Sardar (30) was killed and seven others were injured in a clash between two factions in Lohagara Upazila of Narail. The clash erupted around 11:00 AM on Tuesday (September 8) at Matiadanga in Kotakol Union of the upazila, confirmed Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdur Rahman. Deceased Miskan Sardar was the son of Lokman Sardar of Matiadanga village.

According to local and police sources, a long-standing dispute over local dominance had been brewing between factions led by Shahidul (Member) Mollya and Azmal Munshi in Matiadanga village. As a fallout from the rivalry, both groups clashed violently around 11:00 AM on Tuesday, during which Shahidul Member’s supporters critically hacked Miskan Sardar. Locals rescued Miskan and rushed him to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route upon reaching the Pachchar area of Madaripur. Seven others from both sides sustained injuries in the clash.

Addressing the incident, Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdur Rahman stated that one person was killed in the factional clash, adding that police personnel are on site and additional forces have been deployed in the area, bringing the situation under control.
