1.5 Tons of Expired and Prohibited Goods Destroyed at Hili Customs
The Hili Customs authorities have destroyed various imported prohibited, unreleased, confiscated, and expired goods seized by different agencies at the Hili land port in Dinajpur. The destroyed items included food products, cosmetics, tobacco items, and various other goods.
On Wednesday (September 9) afternoon, these goods were destroyed at a pre-determined location adjacent to the Gohara cremation ground in Hakimpur municipality, in the presence of members of the destruction committee. According to customs authorities, the quantity of the destroyed goods is approximately 1.5 tons, with an estimated market value of around 10 lakh taka.
The destruction drive was attended by relevant departmental officials, including Joint Commissioner of Rangpur Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Faisal Bin Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Hili Customs Customs Station Muhammad Mohi Uddin, Hakimpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mehdi Imam, Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police ANM Niamat Ullah, Joypurhat-20 BGB Battalion Assistant Director Humayun Kabir, Dinajpur Department of Environment Assistant Director Badrunnahar Sima, and Dinajpur Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Director Amirul Islam Sarkar.
