Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has launched a scathing attack on New Delhi, accusing India of orchestrating deep conspiracies against Bangladesh by refusing to repatriate ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Speaking during a high-profile political program, Rizvi stated that despite repeated formal urgings and diplomatic reminders from the interim administration to hand over Hasina and her associates to face justice for mass atrocities, Indian authorities continue to harbor them.
Criticizing New Delhi's stance, he questioned the nature of bilateral friendship, pointing out that individuals accused of shedding the blood of hundreds of students, youths, and working-class citizens during the July uprising have found safe haven across the border.
Rizvi warned that sheltering individuals responsible for systematic violence against pro-democracy advocates deeply hurts bilateral sentiments and fuels public resentment. Political analysts believe these remarks reflect the growing domestic political pressure surrounding fugitive political figures abroad.
