Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition, has called on the government to adopt a heavy-handed approach to suppress conspirators and opportunists attempting to destabilize and destroy the Readymade Garment (RMG) sector.

In a official post published on his verified Facebook page on Monday, November 2, 2026, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep concern over the ongoing industrial unrest, which has manifested in widespread factory vandalism, arson, and the reported closure of nearly 600 apparel factories across major manufacturing hubs. He asserted that neither factory owners nor legitimate workers benefit from the destruction of industrial infrastructure, expressing firm confidence that genuine garment workers are not involved in such acts of violence.

Highlighting the critical winter export season ahead, the Jamaat Ameer warned that there appears to be a deep-rooted conspiracy designed to ruin Bangladesh's foreign trade potential at a crucial juncture. He called upon both factory management and worker unions to remain vigilant, while urging the administration to take immediate and decisive action against external elements seeking to jeopardize the national economy.
