Opposition's Long March Has No Justification & Lacks Acceptance: BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has dismissed the opposition's long march program as completely unjustified, unproven, and unacceptable to the general public, asserting that it stems from a political vacuum and deficit within the opposition ranks.

Speaking to journalists around 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2026, following his chief guest address at the Rajshahi University Alumni Association (Dhaka) reunion and Annual General Meeting at the Krishibid Institution auditorium in Dhaka, Rizvi defended the government's economic and security record. Dismissing allegations that the BNP-led government is responsible for the ongoing energy crunch, Rizvi explained that the crisis is internationally driven by the US-Iran war disrupting primary shipping corridors. He added that the government has successfully arranged alternative gas imports from Myanmar and Indonesia, which has already stabilized the gas supply across Dhaka.

Addressing queries regarding governance and international relations, Rizvi highlighted Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s recent high-level bilateral visits to Japan and China, which he noted have opened significant new avenues for trade, investment, and bilateral cooperation. On law and order, Rizvi firmly defended police action against crime, noting that 200 to 250 individuals involved in juvenile delinquency and social disruption are being arrested daily, challenging critics to point to any period with superior security management.
