The Election Commission (EC) has announced plans to hold Union Parishad (UP) elections before June, alongside a strategic decision to deploy the army during upcoming by-elections to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair voting environment.

Chief Election Commissioner and other senior election officials revealed the roadmap during a high-level commission meeting, emphasizing that maintaining strict law and order remains the topmost priority for the electoral body. To prevent any local-level violence, intimidation, or irregularities that typically plague local government polls, the commission has finalized security deployments involving the armed forces for sensitive by-election constituencies.

Election experts and political analysts have welcomed the decision, noting that active military presence and rigorous administrative oversight will bolster public confidence in the electoral system and pave the way for credible local polls.
