The Election Commission (EC) has announced plans to hold Union Parishad (UP) elections before June, alongside a strategic decision to deploy the army during upcoming by-elections to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair voting environment.

Chief Election Commissioner and other senior election officials revealed the roadmap during a high-level commission meeting, emphasizing that maintaining strict law and order remains the topmost priority for the electoral body. To prevent any local-level violence, intimidation, or irregularities that typically plague local government polls, the commission has finalized security deployments involving the armed forces for sensitive by-election constituencies.
