Subal contacted multiple major hospitals in Chattogram—including Medical Centre, Metropolitan Hospital, Surgiscope, and Maa-O-Shishu Hospital—hoping to secure the critical care doctors had recommended, but none had an available ICU bed. She was eventually admitted to Imperial Hospital in Pahartali.
Anushree, the younger of Subal and Lipi’s two children, was a class 1 student at Railway Kindergarten School in Pahartali. The family had celebrated her seventh birthday just weeks prior on August 2.
She developed a fever on September 14 and was subsequently diagnosed with dengue by a local physician. While her condition initially did not appear alarming, she gradually grew weaker and stopped eating properly. By Friday, her health deteriorated rapidly, and her platelet count plummeted to 23,500. By Saturday morning, doctors informed the family that her liver and kidneys had also been affected, necessitating life support. Despite all efforts, she passed away at approximately 5:30 pm on Saturday at Imperial Hospital and was later cremated at Shankar Math Mahashmashan in Sitakunda.
