Bangladesh has expressed strong interest in expanding bilateral cooperation with China's Yunnan Province across education, culture, renewable energy, and economic sectors during a diplomatic meeting in Kunming on Monday (September 21).
The development was highlighted during a courtesy meeting between the newly appointed Consul General of Bangladesh in Kunming, Shahanaz Akhtar Ranu, and the Director General of the Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office (Yunnan FAO), Yang Shaocheng, at the Yunnan FAO office.
Director General Yang Shaocheng warmly welcomed Consul General Ranu—who assumed charge on August 12—and revealed that bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Yunnan Province surpassed 1.3 billion yuan last year, expressing optimism for further growth this year. Both sides discussed the relocation of the Chancery of the Consulate General of Bangladesh to its designated consular jurisdiction and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to enhancing people-to-people ties and regional collaboration.
