The Governor of Bangladesh Bank has called on India to step up imports from Bangladesh to balance bilateral trade between the two neighboring nations. He also expressed strong interest in adopting Indian expertise and potential technical support for cross-border digital payment systems and expanding the reach of Bangla QR.

The discussion took place on Tuesday (September 22, 2026) during a courtesy meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi at the Bangladesh Bank headquarters in Dhaka.

During the meeting, both parties discussed measures to further strengthen bilateral economic, trade, and financial relations. High Commissioner Trivedi highlighted the importance of streamlining processes for foreign investment, to which the Governor noted that Bangladesh Bank has introduced investor-friendly policy initiatives to ensure smooth repatriation of invested funds and profits. Furthermore, the Governor encouraged increased Indian investment in Bangladesh's technology-driven, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.

The meeting was also attended by Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Kumar Badhe and Second Secretary (Economic & Commerce) Gaurav Kumar Agrawal, alongside Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governors Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman and Md. Sarwar Hossain.
