According to Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Halim, law enforcement conducted a drive at around 5:00 PM based on secret information and detained the former lawmaker from House 2/14 on Iqbal Road. Local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders and activists initially detained Ruhee before informing the police, who subsequently took him into custody. Police stated that necessary legal procedures and interrogation are currently underway. Ruhee was elected as a Member of Parliament on the Awami League ticket from the Netrokona-1 constituency in the 12th National Parliamentary Election, having previously served as an MP following the 2008 general election. He had gone into hiding after the political transition on August 5, 2024, and faces multiple cases, including charges related to the anti-discrimination movement.
