State Minister for Food Md. Abdul Bari has announced that the government will provide targeted financial and agricultural incentives to farmers in traditional cultivation zones to boost aromatic rice production, addressing market shortages and rising prices caused by shrinking cultivation acreage.
Speaking to journalists following a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday, November 8, 2026, the State Minister explained that the decline in dedicated farming land has created a supply deficit for aromatic rice varieties. Clarifying export policy, he noted that commercial exports of aromatic rice are currently suspended to prioritize domestic market stability.
