The Rickshaw, Battery Rickshaw-Van & Easybike Sangram Parishad has pressed a 9-point demand to amend the Battery-Driven Rickshaw, Van, and Easybike Movement Rules 2026. Speaking at a press conference outside the National Press Club on Tuesday morning, November 3, 2026, organizational leaders urged the government not to use the rules as a tool for vehicle eviction, but to protect the livelihoods of driver-owner communities.
The press conference was presided over by Convener Khalequzzaman Lipon, with the written statement delivered by Member Secretary Dr. Manisha Chakraborty. The statement highlighted that 6 million battery-operated vehicles sustain the livelihoods of nearly 30 million citizens. While welcoming the regulation after 13 years of movement, the leaders pointed out key flaws that cause harassment and anxiety among drivers.

The group also called for scrapping mandatory solar power and insurance clauses, extending rule coverage outside city corporation limits, and significantly reducing registration fees (currently set at ৳8,000 for 2-seaters and ৳10,000 for 4-seaters, with ৳4,000 and ৳5,000 annual renewals). To push for these demands, the Parishad announced nationwide rallies across 13 City Corporations on November 11, along with submitting memorandums to the LGRD Minister.
