Ignoring a court injunction, an influential individual named Zahidul Islam Suman has allegedly attempted to forcefully occupy a 3-decade-long possessed homestead in Kuakata, Patuakhali. To protest this, victim Selim Munshi held a press conference detailing accusations of confining a family, filing lawsuits, and issuing death threats.

The press conference took place on Thursday (September 10) at 11:00 AM at the Kuakata Press Club. The written statement was read by victim Selim Musulli (Selim Munshi), who stated that Zahidul Islam Suman, an influential person, has been using lawsuits, attacks, and intimidation to evict him from land he has peacefully possessed for 31 years. Suman reportedly brought people to parade in front of the house and pressured them to leave, causing women and children to fear leaving the house.

Selim Munshi stated that he bought the land and built a house in 1995, living there with his family for three decades, with the SA and BS survey records registered in his name under BS Khatian-1122 and Plot-4091. He added that Suman, a pickle trader at Kuakata Bhuiyan Market, purchased 21 decimals of land from another heir in 2025 within the same plot and khatian, and maliciously set the boundaries inside his possessed homestead despite the seller having vacant land elsewhere. When a dispute arose, Suman filed a case at the Kalapara Senior Civil Judge Court, which issued a temporary injunction against Suman on September 2, 2026.

At the press conference, it was alleged that ignoring the court injunction, Zahidul Islam Suman arrived on Wednesday (September 10 morning) with outsiders and musclemen, surrounded the house, confined the members inside, and issued death threats. Following the incident, a written complaint was lodged with the Mohipur Police Station to ensure family security. Selim Munshi labeled Suman as a land grabber and fraudster who previously faced a mobile court fine following a Time TV report regarding counterfeit foreign chocolates and Burmese pickles. Because Selim Munshi is ill, Shaheen Alam read the statement on his behalf, highlighting the terror faced by his 4 and 9-year-old grandchildren, sick wife, and elderly father. The victim family sought the intervention of the Mohipur Police Station and higher administrative officials to escape Suman's activities. Meanwhile, accused Zahidul Islam Suman denied the allegations, claiming he purchased the land from Mosharraf Hossain in 2022, constructed a boundary wall, and is being barred from entering his own land.
