Uncle Murdered by Nephew Over Land Dispute in Hakimpur, Army Soldier Accused

A man named Rafiqul Islam (55) was allegedly beaten and killed by his own nephew over a land-related dispute in Hakimpur upazila, Dinajpur. The accusations have been leveled against Jakirul Islam (25) and Tamjidul Islam (30), sons of the victim's brother Azadul Islam. Jakirul Islam is reportedly a soldier in the Bangladesh Army.

The incident took place on Thursday (September 10) in the Bolarampur Bazarpara area of the 1st Khatta Madhabpara union under Hakimpur upazila. Deceased Rafiqul Islam was the son of Ofil Uddin from that area. According to local sources, a long-standing land dispute had persisted between Rafiqul Islam and his brother Azadul Islam's family. In continuation of this, a heated argument broke out between the two sides on Thursday, escalating into a physical altercation. Rafiqul Islam sustained severe injuries and reportedly passed away while being taken for medical treatment.

Tension prevails in the area following the incident. Upon receiving the news, Hakimpur police station personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The officer-in-charge (OC) of Hakimpur Police Station stated that news of the incident has been received and it is under investigation. The actual cause of death will be confirmed following the inquest and autopsy of the deceased's body. Preparations are underway to file a case regarding the incident.
