Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar strongly criticized the government during a protest rally at the northern gate of Baitul Mukarram on Monday (September 21) afternoon, accusing it of acting against public interest due to its parliamentary majority.
Speaking at the rally organized by Jamaat's Dhaka Metropolitan South unit to protest repeated fuel price increases, Golam Parwar asserted that the government relied on its majority to overturn key ordinances in parliament—including the July Charter Ordinance, Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance, Human Rights Commission Ordinance, and Enforced Disappearance Prevention Ordinance—while ignoring public mandates. He further highlighted that fuel prices were raised three times in the government's first seven months, triggering severe inflation and public suffering, and warned of larger street protests if opposition demands were not addressed.
Other senior leaders addressing the rally included Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain, former DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem, and Dhaka Metropolitan South Amir Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul, who chaired the event. Following the addresses, leaders and activists held a protest procession that marched from Baitul Mukarram to the Bijoynagar intersection.
