Six more individuals died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh over a 24-hour period, taking the total death toll from confirmed and suspected measles cases to 1,063 this year.
According to a regular health bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday (September 21), two deaths each were reported from the Dhaka and Sylhet divisions between Sunday morning and Monday morning. During the same 24-hour window, 1,305 new patients showing measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Division-wise hospital admissions over the last 24 hours include 488 in Dhaka, 291 in Chittagong, 145 in Barisal, 131 in Sylhet, 90 in Khulna, 73 in Mymensingh, 31 in Rajshahi, and 26 in Rangpur. Official data indicates that since March 15, a total of 181,035 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide, with 20,646 confirmed cases and 159,804 total hospital admissions, of which 153,488 patients have been successfully discharged following treatment.
